Description:

An indigenous South Tyrolean varietal; dark garnet red with violet hues. Notes of violet, cinnamon and slight hints of vanilla emerge on the nose; pronounced acidity and aromas of berries and black cherry on the palate. Ageing potential: 6-8 years.

Pairing:

Perfect with South Tyrolean cuisine. Excellent with roast or grilled beef, lamb, game and cheese.

Serving temperature: 16° C.

Grape variety:

Lagrein from old pergola vines.

Area:

Gries/Bolzano, alluvial-sandy soil with a high proportion of porphyry; perfect southern exposure.

Vinification:

Fermentation on the skins at 28-30° C in stainless steel. Cautious remontage of skins and juice for optimal colour extraction. The wine ferments 1/3 in barriques and 2/3 in 35 hl wooden vats for about 12 months. After careful bottling, a further 12 months of bottle ageing follow.

Lagrein Riserva Glassier

Like the Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay, Lagrein also grows in the countryside that connects to our wine cellar (Glassier). With a quantity of 8,500-9,500 kg/ha, it is harvested at the end of September. The must is fermented at a temperature of 26°C in steel barrels, followed by acid degradation and a 12-month maturation in wooden barrels.

According to DOC regulations, the bottled wine must mature for at least one year to be titled Riserva.

Lagrein Riserva Rivelaun  Larcherhof

The Egger-Spögler family has been running this 16th century farm since 1893. It has a centuries-old history on its shoulders. Visible signs are the mighty Lagrein vines over 100 years old and the old wine cellar. Since 2008, the Spögler family has been producing and bottling its wines, which are typical of the area and variety.

A targeted yield per hectare and ageing in Tonneaux gives this wine a ruby-garnet colour and typical varietal aromas. Soft and elegant.

Ideal with game, dark meat and cheese main courses.

100% Lagrein.

Zone: Rencio - Santa Maddalena Bolzano.
