Clande celebrates the art and tradition of artisanal spirits in Chihuahua. Clandestine distilleries were very common in northern Mexico and were called vinatas. They usually produced both Sotol (from Dasylirion) and Lechuguilla (from agave). Vinatas were banned in the early 1900s and Maestros Sotoleros were even, at times, arrested. The Sotol Clande represents sotols and lechuguillas from different areas with different terroirs; it is a project aimed at supporting small local producers, to improve their living conditions. The 100% Agave Lechuguilla, a creation of Master Distiller Lupe Lopez, is produced from Shrevei agaves in the village of Madera, in the state of Chihuahua, then cooked in underground ovens, then milled by hand, with specific and traditional axes, fermented thanks to wild yeasts and then distilled in copper pot stills. A rare, authentically Mexican release that can take you on a unique and special sensory journey.
