Founded in 1826 by James Henderson, Old Pulteney is the beating heart of the hamlet of Wick renowned both for its whiskeys and for the quality of its excellent herring. It is no coincidence that in the 19th century itself, the Scottish town was famous for its gold, whiskey, and silver, herring.
This unique expression from the distillery in Wick, in the far northern Highlands, is matured for more than 33 years first in American oak casks, then in casks, also oak, from Spain. Robust and full-bodied, it is characterized by savory notes given by the North Sea and the wind of the Caithness coast. It is an excellent testament to what time can bestow on the noble Scottish spirit and a tribute to the know-how, expertise, and craft genius of Old Pulteney's master distillers.
