Founded in 1826 by James Henderson, Old Pulteney is the beating heart of the hamlet of Wick renowned both for its whiskeys and for the quality of its excellent herring. It is no coincidence that in the 19th century itself, the Scottish town was famous for its gold, whiskey, and silver, herring.
This Single Malt is born in Wick, in the far northern Highlands, where it matures for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks until it becomes one of the most balanced expressions of the Old Pulteney range, perfectly reflecting the coastal location, directly on the sea, of the distillery. Spicy and smooth, it surprises with notes of cake, chocolate blade, toasted dulce de leche and a delicious saline edge, a direct result of the North Sea.
