These fruit liqueurs are part of traditional Japanese drinks, especially Umeshu, the famous plum liqueur. They contain less alcohol, about 12°, and less sugar than most European liqueurs.
Ideal as an aperitif or as a light digestive to accompany a dessert. They can also be offered in special pairings such as a plum liqueur with foie gras or a yuzu liqueur with grilled fish fillet. They also turn out to be a wonderful base for innovative cocktails.
It is produced by the Asahara company located in the heart of the Ogose Bailin region, one of the most important places for growing Ume plums. Nigori Umeshu is an unfiltered liquor, very tasty and probably the most iconic of all those produced in Japan.
