ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC

Rosso di Montalcino wine is obtained from the same vineyards as Brunello di Montalcino in that the producer can choose during the harvest and ageing of the wine which portion of it to market under this appellation, without waiting the four-year period envisaged by the Brunello Disciplinary. The Rosso di Montalcino of Azienda Agraria Lisini is distinguished by its ruby red colour and its intense, characteristic aroma. The flavour is warm and dry, slightly tannic.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

 GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION: south of the municipality of Montacino, between the hamlets of Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate

GRAPE VARIETIES: Sangiovese grosso (Brunello) from in-house mass selection in purity.

ANNUAL PRODUCTION: 8,000 to 10,000 bottles, only in the best vintages.

GROWTH FORM: low spurred cordon (70 cm from the ground).

VINEYARD AREA: 1.5 ha

PLANTING DENSITY: 5,400 vines/ha.

YIELD PER VINEYARD: 1.8 kg/vine, equal to a production of about 60 quintals/ha of grapes.

VINEYARD ALTITUDE: From 300 to 350 mlm.

SOIL COMPOSITION: Tufaceous of Eocene origin.

CLIMATE: Characterised by dry summers and mild winters due to the influence of hot winds from the Maremma.

CULTIVATION: carried out entirely by hand, with particular attention to green pruning and thinning out.

HARVEST: by hand in small plastic crates, with selection of individual bunches.

VINIFICATION: carried out in vitrified cement vats with duration, including the period of maceration on the skins, varying between 18 and 24 days, temperature-controlled fermentation between 28 and 30°C
