The Great Challenge: The Grand Blazon "Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Lafòa" Colterernzio against "Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Sass Roà" Laimburg and "Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Weinegg" Thurnhof
Cabernet Sauvignon LAFÓA
This Cabernet is a jewel among the great wines of Alto Adige. Colterenzio's expertise in processing and ageing has resulted in a wonderful red wine that is intense, structured and rich. Dark red hues accompany a bouquet with tones of blackcurrant, bitter chocolate, marzipan and vanilla. A great classic of international stature.
During vinification and ageing it acquires a deep dark purple colour. The full tannins and extraordinary persistence are still noticeable in the mouth. Great ageing potential: 10-15 years.
It goes well with red meat, grilled or roasted, but especially with game and spicy cheese.
The vineyards are located at an altitude of 430 m above sea level with excellent exposure to the sun. It is a rather dry area with sandy and gravelly soils of morainic origin.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON RISERVA Sass Roà
Dark purple colour with garnet red reflections. Notes of blackcurrant and lemon balm emerge in the aromas, accompanied by a hint of wood
oak. A wine of great fullness and consistency, rich in tannins and with a persistent aftertaste
The constellation of soil, climate, vine and man, working in harmony, creates the unmistakable character of a wine and establishes its authenticity. The principle of viticulture and winemaking at Cantina Laimburg is to be in tune with the character of the vine and to allow it to develop its best qualities.
Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva Vigna Weinegg
The "Weinegg" is at the top of our production. It takes its name from the important fortified castle that stood on Mount Virgolo, just above our vineyards, and was razed to the ground in 1200.The Weinegg is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Lagrein. Only the best grapes from vines that are at least 15 years old are used for the 'Weinegg'.The harvest is in mid-October. In that season, the Cabernet Sauvignon has completed its ripening, while Merlot and Lagrein are already slightly overripe, with berries that have wilted somewhat. The wine is very full-bodied, with noble and evolved tannins. The aromas are very fine, with intense ripe fruit. Vinification takes place in 2- and 5-hectolitre barriques (50-80% new wood). Only in very good vintages is Weinegg made.
