Etna is more than a mountain: it is Europe's highest active volcano, a sleeping giant to which the locals attribute the feminine nature of a capricious woman, but also maternal and protective, a fickle being to be lived with and relied upon every day.
IDDA means "She" in Sicilian dialect and is the term the locals use to define Etna with affection and admiration.
IDDA is also the joint project of two families, Gaja and Graci, based on their shared curiosity and desire to learn and improve.
With IDDA we have taken an unusual path: focusing mainly on Carricante and aiming to rediscover the south-west slope, often referred to as the uphill side of Etna.
Today the company owns 20 hectares of vineyards located between 600 and 800 metres above sea level in the municipalities of Belpasso and Biancavilla. The vines cultivated are Carricante and Nerello Mascalese.
