Harvest: By hand, in the first three weeks of October followed by natural, traditional drying on trellises in an airy room for around 75 days.

Vinification: Fermentation with skin maceration for 15 days. Ageing: In barriques for 6 months, in Slavonian oak casks 18 months. Ageing: In bottle for 9 months.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Intense ruby red with violet reflections tending to garnet with time. Aroma: Intense, persistent with delicate notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry jam and dried fruit.

Taste: sweet, warm, persistent and full-bodied. Very fine and balanced in sugars with a persistent and pleasant aftertaste of dried fruit.

Gastronomic combinations:

Sagrantino Passito di Montefalco is traditionally a meditation wine. It goes well with decidedly mature spicy cheeses, as well as with roasted or grilled red meat dishes. It excels when accompanied by desserts: traditionally it is paired with typical Umbrian tozzetti, but it is also excellent with red fruit tarts and chocolate. Alcoholic degree: 15% Vol.
