Moonshine is the term given to whiskey clandestinely distilled in America during the Prohibition years. It was manufactured during the night, hence the name "moonshine", to evade police checks and prevent the columns of smoke that rose into the sky during distillation from being noticed. This illegal spirit was essentially produced in the woods of Tennessee using corn pulp as the main ingredient. Ole Smoky pays homage to this incredible American history by presenting its moonshine in cute glass jars reminiscent of the first containers used by illegal distillers.
The distillery is run by a family originally from the Appalachian Mountains who have been producing their own moonshine illegally for over 100 years. Relocating as soon as the state of Tennessee allowed the opening of suitable distillation facilities, Ole Smoky Moonshine became the state's first legal producer. The company is located at the foot of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg and the master distillers use only local ingredients, pristine Tennessee waters and 100% pure fruit juice. Also called "white dog" for its transparent color, it is very simple to produce and ends up in the bottle without having to first age in barrels.
This Moonshine proudly boasts the winged wheel, the international symbol of centaurs, a symbol of freedom, strength and audacity.
Moonshine that celebrates the journey!
