In 1938, at 20 Renfield Street in Glasgow, a barrel merchant and extreme enthusiast of their contents, Duncan Taylor, founded his new business, already having whiskies dating back as far as 1864 in his house. He continued his work until the late 1960s when New Yorker Abe Rosenberg, an experienced spirits merchant, took over the brand and, over the years, expanded the collection to over 4500 casks including Single Malts and Grain Whiskies, in the name of his great passion for blending of the highest quality.
Duncan Taylor remained in American hands until Rosenberg's death in 1994, when it was purchased by Euan Shand, thus returning to the soil of Scotland and beginning, from the homeland, to appear with increasing recognition in world markets.
An Octave Cask represents 1/8 the size of a standard cask and contains about 50 liters of whiskey without masking its authenticity, however, creating a more complex and bold spirit with a multidimensional character. Within the Octave selection we find whiskies from some of Scotland's distilleries, including Glentauchers, Bunnahabhain, Tormore and Cambus. Unfiltered and without the addition of any coloring, these are single cask whiskies bottled at full strength. Just 70 bottles are produced from a single cask, making each Octave release unique and unrepeatable.
