Rum Santa Maria Gold (70cl 37.5%) - crb

Japanese rum produced by Iejima Distillery, a young distillery established in 2011 and located on the island of Iejima, west of Okinawa. Given the scarcity of water in this semi-tropical region, it has historically been impossible to grow rice. However, sugarcane has always been grown since 1630. From this local sugarcane, rum production was started with a very clear policy: to intervene as little as possible in any stage of distillation. The idea is to work in a natural way so that the soul of Iejima can travel outside the island's borders in the distillate. Santa Maria rum is the first distillate produced on a small, remote Japanese island that uses 100 percent pure sugarcane juice specially grown to create this authentic oriental spirit. The name comes from the white lily that blooms on the island in spring and is symbolic of the Virgin Mary in the Western world. The Gold version is aged for three months in oak barrels.
