According to Coquerel, Hors d'Age is the best a Calvados can offer. Decidedly complex, it is a cider distillate for knowledgeable and trained drinkers. It can become an incredible ingredient in the preparation of certain drinks, for example, an Old Fashioned with a distinct Norman character.
