Legend has it that Charles, a young Breton orphan, was hired as a galley boy by a private shipowner during the reign of Louis XIV; he thus decided to bring aboard both the cider he produced and his distillate, which the crew adored in equal measure. Thus it was that, after years of service in the navy, Charles was awarded the title De Granville, and he devoted himself entirely to perfecting his distillates.
This Calvados, distilled in Armagnacaise column from Bisquet, Bedan, Petit Joly and Saint Martin apples grown by the same "domaine," then ages in small French oak barrels. A spirit at once elegant and powerful. A Calvados definitely a collector's item.
