Jefferson was born in Calabria, in a land that yields fruits and herbs unique to the world. The Vecchio Magazzino Doganale hand selects and harvests most of the botanicals used, including PGI lemons from Rocca Imperiale, sweet and bitter Bisignano oranges from the family garden, bergamots from Pellaro, oregano from Palombara and rosemary from Bisignano. Everything is processed separately, in hydroalcoholic infusion respecting the raw material and seasonality, which is why more than 11 months are spent to assemble Jefferson, without ever resorting to artificial flavors or dyes, a linen cloth is the tool used for filtering. Jefferson was the captain of a ship wrecked in Calabria in 1871, found shelter at Giocondo's at the Old Customs Warehouse, is made what was called by him Important Bitter, this has been adapted and transformed to make it excellent in our day. Ideal served chilled or on the rocks, surprising in blending as a bitter or in support of vermouths. Recognized in 2018 as the world's best liqueur at the World Liqueur Awards.
