Known and popular in Cuba since the mid-19th century, the Sao Can brand has its roots in the sugarcane plantations of Cárdenas (western Cuba), historically cultivated by the indigenous Aruaco Taino people.
The name comes from the crasis of SAOco and CANchánchara, well-known Cuban cocktails of the late 1700s (even before the birth of the Mojito!).
SAOCO - drink simple in its composition, but deep in flavor and tradition. It is prepared with coconut water, rum and ice and preferably served in a coconut.
CANCHÁNCHARA - A drink prepared by "mambises" (guerrilla soldiers for Cuban independence) by mixing aguardiente with honey and lemon juice. It served to resist the cold and allowed them to keep warm and protect themselves from illness and various respiratory ailments.
Sao Can 14 Reserva Original is a Cuban PDO with a bewitching dark amber color. A blend of very aged reserves that amaze on the nose, along with fruit notes. It is round and fruity on the palate.
