Jefferson was born in Calabria, in a land that offers fruits and herbs unique in the world. The Vecchio Magazzino Doganale hand selects and harvests most of the botanicals used, including IGP Lemons from Rocca Imperiale, sweet and bitter Bisignano oranges from the family garden, bergamots from Pellaro, oregano from Palombara and rosemary from Bisignano. Everything is processed separately, in hydroalcoholic infusion respecting the raw material and seasonality, which is why more than 11 months are spent to assemble Jefferson, without ever resorting to artificial flavors or dyes, a linen cloth is the tool used for filtering. Jefferson was the captain of a ship that was shipwrecked in Calabria in 1871, found shelter at Giocondo's at the Old Customs Warehouse, is made what was called by him an Important Bitter, this has been adapted and transformed to make it excellent in our time. Ideal served chilled or on the rocks, surprising in blending as a bitter or in support of vermouths. Recognized in 2018 as the world's best liqueur at the World Liqueur Awards.
