The Cognac Pierre Ferrand estate is located in the "golden triangle" of the Grande Champagne region, in the Château de Bonbonnet, an 18th-century chateau located in Ars, just 10 km from the city center of Cognac. Pierre Ferrand Cognacs are made from only Grande Champagne grapes, and the unfiltered wine is distilled in small 25-hectoliter discontinuous stills. The spirit is then carefully aged in small French Limousin oak barrels. Although the oak lends structure and interest to these spirits, the high quality of the fruit remains at the forefront. In 1989, the meeting of Alexandre Gabriel with the Ferrand family-corresponding to one of the oldest winemaking entities belonging to the Cognac region-born Maison Ferrand. The distillates produced by Maison Ferrand are born from the best raw materials, and are obtained by following slow and meticulous processes, whereby distillation takes place in copper stills and aging is carried out in ancient oak barrels, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao is a reproduction of the dry and complex orange liqueur used by the pioneering blenders of the 19th century. Developed by Alexandre Gabriel with his friend and cocktails historian David Woondrich, this liqueur is made by macerating bitter Laraha orange peels, vanilla, plums, lemon peel and sweet oranges in an unaged brandy, along with more than a dozen other ingredients. This is then distilled and blended with aged brandy and Cognac Pierre Ferrand before being allowed to mature in oak barrels.
